Ok so I didn't get as much as I hoped to get done this weekend, but I'm happy with what I did. I finished my two end tables for the living room, painted my room finally, picked out and hung up curtains for my bedroom, and attempted to fix my dining room table.

My mom had bought it off Craigslist, and they dropped it off in two pieces (the top and pedestal bottom), we painted the bottom a cottage white color and stained the top, went to put them back together and realized the table is abnormally short. Being that I'm 6'2". This is a BIG problem. After a trip to Home Depot hoping an idea would pop into our heads my mom thought we should build a longer pedestal and just put all the other parts back on the new pedestal. So this is a project for next time :) It took long enough just to come up with a solution.

My living room is coming together, all I need now is a couch! Below are the two end tables I finished this weekend.

I also started on two small shelves for the living room. I'm painting them both the same color as the kitchen. I'm just in love with it!! So far I only have a couple coats on them, they still have one more coat and some distressing to do, but I'm excited for the pop of color it'll give the living room! (My living room is painted gray and I have mostly white furniture in there right now)

I was so excited to take a picture of my finished bedroom, but it's still not quite there. I need to pick up another set of curtains and I didn't get to putting my pretty duvet cover on my bed. I was too busy buying a new car today! I also want to redo the highboy dresser I have in there, but I have a few more projects to go before that one.

And to end the day, a cute picture of my boy, Dexter. He thought he was much cuter than the end table I was trying to take a picture of :)  He really is...

Yay my first post! First time blogger here...I'm always looking at blogs about furniture, design, and DIY ideas, so why not try one myself? Well a little about me.... I'm a 22 year old (almost 23) who just bought her first home a few months ago. My two major loves are animals and I guess you could call it decorating..? I love finding old furniture and making it pretty again, and just the excitement of putting a room together.

As you can imagine I've been extremely busy since purchasing my home. For a foreclosure it was in pretty good shape, but I still have/had some repairs to make and updating to do. It's work but exciting to make it my own. It's been almost 3 months and I've learned plenty of lessons about home ownership so far.

1. Do NOT use glue-on tiles. I went the "cheap" route (it probably wouldn't have been much more for actual tiles and they would look much nicer), but for now it'll do.

2. Do NOT take on too many projects at once! I made that mistake. It was extremely overwhelming and stressful. Take your time and do one project at a time.

3. Always read the description on the weed killer bottle :) Yep, it ended up being weed AND GRASS killer. After I sprayed it all over my backyard I noticed large brown patches of dead grass everywhere! Then my dad showed me what it said on the bottle. Woops.

I've been waiting for the day to decorate my own house for so long. So I've been going a little crazy and ended up with a garage full of furniture :) I can't just go to Target and buy what I need and be happy. I need to make it my own!

My mom has been teaching me a lot about how to paint, stain, and distress furniture. There's soo many different things you can do to a piece of furniture! Our first finished piece for my house is a dresser that I'm using as my living room TV stand. It's great for storing DVD's and such without the clutter!

Gotta say, I'm pretty impressed with her skills. I'm sooo excited to start on the next piece! I think next we'll tackle my two end tables for the living room. It'll be so nice to have a place to put a lamp and not have to put our stuff on the floor! As of right now I'm thinking I'll paint them the same creamy white color as the dresser and then distress them.

Since it's a 3 day weekend, I'm hoping to get a lot done, but nothing ever goes as quickly as you think of course. Hopefully I'll have some new furniture to show you next time!
